A Cyclone is equipment which structurally removes dust using the principle that, when dust is absorbed into a cone-shaped container, it falls down to the dust storing place by centrifugal force and gravity.

In a Cyclone, the absorbed gas and dust moves spirally inside the cone-shaped container and flows down toward the bottom by centrifugal force, at which time the movement is accelerated as the inside of the container becomes narrower. The gas and dust which have flowed down at high speed fall down to the dust storing place, where the gas is separated from dust and moves up along the center of the cone-shaped container to be discharged.

  • It is widely used as the structure is simple and the fabrication and operation costs are inexpensive.
  • The bigger the dust particle size is, the higher the efficiency is.
  • In the case of particles smaller than 10§, the collection efficiency is reduced.
  • It can treat high temperature gas and has little pressure loss.
  • It has a difficult in treating wet dust.
  • It is sensitive to change in the amount of dust and flow.
